It did not rain on this parade: M Vision Atelier a hit.
What a weekend. It kicked off with The
Main Event on Friday where each photographer was
assigned a portion of St. Laurent Boulevard. For those of
you who don’t know Montreal, this is the hub of multiculturalism
and joie de vivre in the City.
On Saturday, we were instructed to document
different aspects of life on The Main. Participants picked
and chose from 3 themes: Urban Art,
Urban Flavours and Urban Personalities.
Sunday’s showers didn’t diminish the creativity.
With themes like Rain on the Main, The
Soggy Mountain and, of course, Sunday Mass,
the weather actually contributed to our participants looking
at subjects in an even more unconventional light.

Our
two coaches, Carl Valiquet and Conrad
Duroseau, pushed us to new heights. Carl’s
studio, with his stunning images on its walls, let us
appreciate street scenes and put us in the mood to try
our hand at street photography. Participants left their
comfort zones and surprised themselves with captivating
images of real Montreal to produce our own version of
‘in cameras veritas’. |

who made this weekend so memorable. And to Carl and Conrad,
thank you for accepting my invitation and steering the atelier
so capably. Through your photographs, presentations and enthusiasm,
we all learned more about our world and about ourselves. Always

L’Atelier
M Vision: un succès, beau temps, mauvais temps.
Quel
weekend! L’Atelier a commencé avec l’évènement
"La Main" vendredi où chaque participant
était assigné à une section du boul. St-Laurent.
Pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas Montréal, c’est le
carrefour du multiculturalisme et de la joie de vivre de notre ville.
Samedi,
les instructions étaient de documenter les différents
aspects de la vie sur la Main. On avait le choix parmi trois thèmes:
l’art urbain, les saveurs urbaines
ou les personnalités urbaines. Les averses
de dimanche n’ont pas diminué l’enthousiasme
créatif, avec des thèmes comme "il pleut
sur la Main", "la montagne baignée"
et "la messe du dimanche". Ces averses,
en effet, ont incité nos participants à jeter un regard
plus approfondi sur les sujets baignés de la lumière
grise.

Nos
deux coachs, Carl Valiquet et Conrad
Duroseau, nous ont poussés vers de nouveaux
sommets. Le studio de Carl, avec ses images époustouflantes,
nous a mis dans l’atmosphère de l’univers
de la photo du quotidien. Les participants ont quitté
leur zone de confort, se laissant surprendre par leurs images
captivantes, afin de produire leur propre version de "in
cameras veritas". |

Félicitations
et mille mercis à tous les photographes qui ont contribué
à ce mémorable évènement, et surtout,
à Carl et Conrad, merci d’avoir accepté mon
invitation et d’avoir dirigé cet atelier avec grâce
et enthousiasme. Merci pour vos oeuvres, votre présentation
et votre passion. Cet atelier nous a aidés à mieux
connaître le monde aux alentours, et nous-mêmes.
