version Française

Dear M Enthusiasts,

It is with great pleasure that I extend this invitation to join us on October 22 for our M Vision Atelier Version V. I feel privileged to introduce Gilbert Duclos and Ron Levine, two extraordinary Leica masters who will guide us through the weekend.

Whether Beijing, Paris or Montreal, Gilbert Duclos’ photographs capture much more than the human condition, they rekindle your faith in the human spirit.  Through his camera’s eye he takes the pulse of a culture, revealing his findings in photographs captured with immaculate timing and good humour. Never banal, his images are enriched by a thoughtful, studied approach.

The incisive work of Ron Levine grabs the viewer and makes us question our presumptions and perceptions of socially challenging issues.  Ron is a consummate pro, an accomplished commercial photographer who takes the same disciplined approach that he employed to carve out a successful career in New York City and Montreal, and applies it to his personal work.

M Vision Atelier V will be limited to fifteen participants. Prepare to hone your photographic eye, have some laughs and take some memorable pictures. I look forward to seeing you there. Please reserve your place as soon as possible.

WHAT IS M VISION?

I believe that it is 50% of what makes an M camera great. Its uniqueness lies in the rangefinder’s elegant simplicity: look through the viewfinder and see an undisturbed image of life! Nothing is dramatized nor distorted. Unlike an SLR, there is no compression and no skewed wide-angle view. Your vision and your purpose are paramount.

We celebrate this approach to photography through several vehicles including the M Vision Atelier, M Vision Gallery, and M Vision Photographer Evenings.

Held annually, the M Vision Atelier features two renowned photographers who spend a weekend with a small group of participants, exploring different approaches, styles and applications to help nurture our unique way of seeing. The emphasis is placed on getting out there, taking photographs and having fun.
The atelier is a nonprofit endeavor. Fees cover film, photofinishing, equipment rentals, meals, and our instructors’ remuneration.

The M Vision Gallery is an online exhibition space featuring the outstanding work produced during the atelier. Full of unique and inspiring photos, it is a great destination to admire the work of your colleagues and peers.

The M Vision Photographer Evenings often take place in conjunction with camera clinics hosted by Leica and Zeiss. The venue is casual and comfortable, making it easy for photographers to share their recent projects and for the audience to ask questions.
